Paraprofessional Staff of Kaufman Law Group
Kimberly L. Kaskel has been a part of the KLG team for 14 years. She serves as Jay’s right hand in many facets of the practice. The firm’s clients have come to rely on her for day-to-day questions and because of her attention to important detail.
Because of her prior experience working for a small Chicago law firm, Kim has assumed many roles and responsibilities within Kaufman Law Group. Kim thrives on new challenges and new assignments. Over the years, Kim has assisted Jay in the estate planning area, in his real estate practice, with closely held businesses and in the design, installation, and administration of tax-qualified retirement plans.
Kim’s primary day-to-day responsibility at KLG is to work with Jay in assisting our business clients. Kim is our in-house expert in the ins and outs of dealing with the various authorities where corporations and LLCs are formed and maintained for our clients. Kim keeps in contact with all of our corporate clients on a regular basis to ensure that their corporate reporting and compliance are up to date. Kim also is the go-to contact with our business clients who sponsor 401(k) and other retirement plans. She handles all aspects of plan administration, including compliance, tax filings and employee distributions. Kim also works with Jay on commercial real estate transactions.
Kim lives in Buffalo Grove with her husband, Richard, and their teenage son.
Suzanne R. Othman joined Kaufman Law Group in 2003. She has worked with Jay on corporate compliance, real property, estate, wealth management, and trust administration matters. She has successfully completed coursework on “Estate Planning in Depth”, through the American Law Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Drafting Revocable Living Trusts & Practice Development Strategies, through WealthCounsel, San Diego.
Suzanne currently supports Jay primarily with our family and individual clients in the estate planning, elder law, asset protection and trust and estate administration areas. Suzanne meets every estate planning and elder law client and works with them to ensure that their plans are properly funded, and that the plans work as required when they are completed. Suzanne also works with Jay in preparing gift tax and estate tax returns.
Suzanne is dedicated to helping clients establish family-owned businesses and pass them on from one generation to the next. She enjoys having the opportunity to work with many brilliant and diverse people, while developing excellent relationships along the way. She is a member of WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, the Illinois Paralegal Association and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations.
In addition to her professional activities, Suzanne and her children enjoy being actively involved in various charitable, educational, environmental, and civic organizations.
