For Community, Clients, Advisors
Many of our clients know that we recently opened a second office in Lake
in the Hills. What they don’t realize is that Kaufman Law Group
has a Wheeling “office” as well. Okay, it’s not really
an office. It’s where we have lunch at least once a week, sometimes
more often. It’s
Pita Inn, a Mediterranean restaurant located on Elmhurst Road just south of Dundee
Road in Wheeling. (They also have locations in Glenview and Skokie).
There was some debate about whether I should be writing occasional blog
posts about my favorite restaurants. I promised to include interesting
information on my blog. So, to break up the all that dry stuff about taxes,
trusts and the like, I decided to include this post about my avocation
There is a reason why there’s a line at all three Pita Inn restaurants
during peak times: Great food and outstanding value. This is not a place
to go for atmosphere. Sometimes there is a wait for a table, particularly
when it’s too cold to enjoy the outdoor eating area.
The big draw is the $4.95 Monday to Friday “Business Lunch Special”.
It is a large plate loaded up with kifta (ground beef) kabob, falafel,
grilled chicken, beef shawarma, rice and salad with fresh, warm pita bread.
Can’t beat it.
During the cold season, the yellow lentil soup is a Kaufman Law Group staff
favorite. The owner, Falah Tabahi, suggests adding fresh squeezed lemon
juice to enhance the flavors. Kim, Suzanne and Alysse like the fatoosh
salad; fresh salad with cucumbers, tomatoes and parsley in a vinaigrette
dressing with pita chips topped with chicken shawarma freshly cut from
the vertical broiler. I go for the sandwiches; grilled chicken tenders
or chicken shawarma in warm pita bread. Add a little hummus and some hot
sauce with a diet coke or ice tea and you have a great meal. The average
lunch check is less than $7.00 with beverage.
Pita Inn also offers entrée size meals. The chicken tender entrée
features four grilled chicken tenders on a plate of tender yellow rice
with salad. There is a lot more to like, including a variety of vegetarian
choices (so Karen’s happy there, too).
Pita Inn’s secret is the value for the money, and healthy food with
consistent quality. The manager, Hamdy, takes good care of us. It’s
my favorite lunch spot, and I’ve been going there for years.
Highly recommended. I give it 5 stars.
So the only question is this: When is Pita Inn going to open close to my
other office in Lake in the Hills-Algonquin?
